Pilot Program: Property Inventory Project
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
SaSAA collaborated with the City of Fort Worth, TX on a unique pilot initiative to inventory City owned property and screen properties for Environmental risk. The project fast-tracked properties for redevelopment while flagging those with more complex environmental issues. SaSAA worked with City officials to prioritize properties for screening, search for known issues using the SiteRisk PropTech platform to quickly assess environmental risks, and ready them for disposal or reuse. The program proposed to rapidly triage properties, make better use of the City’s limited redevelopment resources, and drive productive use/reuse of property while maximizing the City’s opportunity to reduce blight and increase the tax base.

Project Highlight: National League of Cities Local Infrastructure Hub
SaSAA partnered with the NLC in their Local Infrastructure Hub initiative (Hub). SaSAA worked alongside NLC in Hub ‘bootcamps’ that were designed to ready member cities for federal grant applications. Participating cities were provided environmental expert consultation and access to the intelligent risk screening software, ‘SiteRisk’. SiteRisk is an easy to use on-demand property risk forecasting platform that lets members proactively identify property risk issues that could impact their federal grant applications. The platform is a comprehensive solution to manage property risks, by providing rapid reports with relevant property, environmental, and physical data needed to address grant applications. It allows Cities to accurately screen properties for environmental issues before decisions are made.

Case Study: Brownfield Project
Location: White Plains, New York
SaSAA consulted with the City of White Plains, NY on a unique site that was contaminated with Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) as a result of firefighting training activities. SaSAA provided an on-call environmental engineer who was able to consult with City officials on potential environmental concerns and applicability for Brownfields grant funding. SaSAA connected the City with the Regional EPA Brownfields coordinator to pursue qualifying the site for grant funding. With the emergence of PFAS as a potential EPA hazardous substance, SaSAA and the City were able to utilize subject matter expertise to accelerate the City’s readiness for a federal Brownfield grant application.

Strategic Partner Highlight: Sustainability Master Plan and Dashboard
Location: Santa Clara County, California
SaSAA brings best in market capabilities to its members, and sources providers that can deliver value and actionable solutions for municipal leaders. One of SaSAA’s SME providers worked with Santa Clara County, California to develop the County’s Sustainability Master Plan and web-based sustainability dashboard. The Plan was a vision and roadmap to building and maintaining a healthy and safe county. Its aim was to reduce climate pollution, adapt to a changing global climate, enhance natural resources and the environment, foster a prosperous and just regional economy, and ensure the County meets the needs of current and future generations and ensures all people have equitable opportunities to reach their full potential.
